Water Structures Modeling

In Bentley OpenUtilities Designer the Standard Data Model defines water structures as simple nodes in the network.

  • Facility structures are defined as water supply features, such as tanks or reservoirs, and would normally be placed at the start of a network. When tracing commands are applied to the network, with Show Flow Direction turned on, the indicated flow direction will travel away from the Facility Structure.
  • Hydrants and Water Meters are the features in the Standard Data Model that the water is supplied to. They are typically placed at the end of a Water Lateral.
  • Water Pumps indicate the downstream flow direction. If the water pump is placed at the end point of a water main with the water main connected to the start point of a second water main the water pump direction will point in the downstream direction of the second water main.
  • Water Lateral Connection Points are designed for connecting service or hydrant lateral lines to a water main and can be placed anywhere along a water main.
  • Water Fittings are connectors between two or more water pipes, or indicate a connection on the pipe itself (e.g. a weld). The openness of the placement routines allows for fittings to be placed on pipes or, alternatively, pipes to be connected to fittings.
